La Fondation d'Hauterive                                                                    

Érigée en 1966 sous les auspices du Grand Conseil du canton de Fribourg, la « Fondation d'Hauterive », fondation de droit public, est propriétaire des bâtiments et des terrains qu'elle met gratuitement à la disposition des moines d'Hauterive pour leur permettre de mener leur vie de consécration à Dieu.
A ce titre, elle prend à sa charge l'entretien, la conservation et la restauration du patrimoine architectural classé d'importance nationale que représente le monument, libérant ainsi la communauté d'une lourde tâche qu'elle ne serait pas en mesure d'assumer financièrement sans ce concours efficace.
La structure juridique de la Fondation (exempte d'impôts et du paiement des droits de succession) l'autorise à recevoir de façon privilégiée des dons et legs auxquels s'ajoutent les subventions fédérales et cantonales qui lui permettent de faire face à ses obligations.
Le Conseil de Fondation formé de cinq membres comprend, outre un délégué nommé par l'État, deux moines (dont le Père Abbé), ainsi que - en raison de leur fonction - le chef du Service cantonal des biens culturels et le Président de l'Association des Amis de l'Abbaye d'Hauterive. Pour mener à bien sa mission, le Conseil fait appel aux services d'un architecte et d'experts variés garantissant la qualité des multiples interventions souvent délicates à conduire.
 
La Fondation est officiellement reconnue comme "établissement d'accueil" habilité à recevoir des personnes effectuant leur service civil (dans le domaine des métiers liés à l'entretien et à la restauration-conservation des bâtiments).

The Hauterive Foundation
Erected in 1996, under the auspices of the Grand Conseil of the Canton of Fribourg, the "Hauterive Foundation", a foundation under public law is the proprietor of the buildings and land that is freely given to the monks of Hauterive to enable them to live out their life consecrated to God.
The Foundation undertakes the upkeep, conservation and restoration of the architectural patrimony of the building, which is classed of national importance, freeing the community from a heavy burden that it would not be able to financially undertake without this substantial help.
The legal structure of the Foundation (exonerated from taxes and death duties) allows it to receive, in a privileged way, gifts and legacies, to which can be added federal and cantonal subventions, these allow the Abbey to honour their obligations.
The Foundation Council formed of five members comprising a delegate named by the State, two monks, (one of whom is the Abbot), as well as, because of their status the head of the Cantonal Service of Cultural Goods, and the President of the Association of the Friends of Hauterive. To accomplish its task the Council calls on the services of an architect and various experts who guarantee the quality of the multiple, delicate interventions that are needed to be undertaken.

The Foundation is officially recognised as a "reception establishment" habilitated to receive people doing their civil service (in the field of jobs linked to the upkeep and restoration-conservation of buildings).
